 Ewes

Our ewes are very easy going; some of them are even very familiar with us. They are not aggressive at all, but watch them when they  have lambs!  Scottish Blackface mothers are very protective and will attack a dog when it gets too close.

All our ewes are scrapie tested and only a few of our Scottish Blackface ewes are ARQ-ARQ all the rest is ARR-ARR and ARR-ARQ.  For the moment, we are keeping the dougle ARQ ewes just because of their fabulous offspring AND crossed with a double ARR ram, they produce ARR-ARQ lambs.

In February 2004 we imported our first Scottish Blackfaces ; 6 ewes in lamb and an ARR-ARR ram from Mr. Kennedy, Mitchelhill, Lanarkshire-Biggar, Scotland.  From their lambs we kept 2 double ARR ewes and one ARR-ARQ ewe and 2 ARR-ARR rams.  Mitch is still with us and is giving us his first offspring in 2006.

In March 2005 we imported 6 Portland ewes in lamb of Biddy Roche in Canterbury-Kent, England.  Biddy has a very large flock of wonderful Portlands.  Every day she drives around from field to field to check on her animals.  These 6 ladies gave us 4 ewelambs and 2 ramlambs of which one is going to stay to give us some offspring in the future. Thanks Biddy! You gave us wonderful animals !

In August 2005, we imported another small flock of 9 animals.  This time, we went to the Welsh Fam.;An and Sandy.  They have the Mosfennan flock in Lannarkshire, Biggar, Scotland.  We have 8 shearling ewes, ARR-ARR and one shearling ram ARR-ARR.  These new ewes, alongside my own ewes, will provide us wit a variety of bloodlines.  Thanks Ann and Sandy, they are beautiful !!
